Díolaim is made up of pieces written between 2002 and 2005. Most of the familiar trappings of black metal are here (granular production, romantically-tinged melodies…) absent however are the more egoistic tendencies which black metal has identified itself with in latter years. Instead there is a sincere, if naiive, emulation of the brevity and poignancy of greats like Ildjarn & Burzum. Despite their lack of technical flair (and many technical flaws) these pieces reveal an artistic attentiveness and a love for the esoteric that exceeds the physical limitiations of the performance.

Aisling Dhorcha remains within the ambient black metal framework set out on the first album Díolaim whilst expanding the range of dynamics and mood. Unlike the fragmented first album Aisling Dhorcha is written as a complete, continuous whole; ocassionally recalling and mutating motifs from itself to further the overall narrative. A tale of struggle and triumph over fear and complacency – Aisling Dhorcha is the essence of Beithíoch approached from a new perspective. This album features vocals and lyrics entirely within the Irish language.
